About Mel

Hi, and welcome to Early days with Mel.

After 25 years of working within a Private Maternity Unit, I decided that it was time to take my knowledge and experience to new families in their own homes and Early Days with Mel was born.

My journey as a Midwife began in the UK and after moving to Australia and making the Tweed area my home, I qualified as an International Board Certified lactation Consultant (IBCLC)in 2006.

This dual role allows me to understand the very unique needs of a new parent, both physically and emotionally. It can be a period of immense change, which can be overwhelming and worrying.

Having worked extensively in Postnatal and community clinics, as both an Endorsed Midwife and Lactation Consultant. I have seen first hand how the early days and weeks at home with your new baby can be unbelievably daunting and I have always felt that the most valuable way to teach and guide is in your comfy home space.

It is so important that a person that you welcome into your home, is someone that you have confidence in and has your families best interests at heart, a person who will become a trusted figure in your baby bubble.

I hope that, if you are a new parent that needs support with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, adjusting to parenthood or any aspect of life with a new baby, you reach out so we can make a plan together.

I really look forward to meeting you.
